RL Kunz was and is the innovator in fiber fans.
Fiber Fans from RL Kunz feature a large open, housing, a smooth, tag-free wheel, and negative pressure fins behind the wheel.

Three designs of fan wheels are offered:
The “B” style wheel is a heavy-duty, 8 radial bladed, Almag wheel
with taper lock bushing and negative pressure fins.
The “F” style wheel is a lighter Almag wheel with more rounded
corners, a hub plate cover, and negative pressure fins to minimize fiber damage when the velocities or weight of fiber are high enough to drive the fiber into the wheel.
Fabricated steel, or aluminum radial blade wheels with negative
pressure fins are used in the larger fans with wheel diameters above 23 inches. The wheels have rounded edges, de-burred surfaces,
negative pressure fins, and reinforcing for the heavier loads of larger fans.
American Fan Company fiber fans are designed in 12 sizes, from 9 inches through 21 inches based on inlet size. All are available in either arrangement 4 (direct drive) or arrangement 9 (belt drive).
Direct-drive designs provide lower maintenance requirements for hard-to-reach locations. The speed control usually associated with belt-drive can now be accomplished on direct-drive through use of AC inverters.
Capacities range from 1,200 ACFM to 11,000 CFM at 1” to 15” SP.
Recommended Max Material Loading = 43 CFM / lb. of material.
A fan handling 2500 cubic feet per minute (cfm), 188 pounds of air, can transport about 56 pounds of fiber per minute, or 3360 pounds per hour.
Fans have the following features:
K&B flanged inlet and outlet
Mild steel rotatable housing
Mild steel motor or bearing base
Direct-drive Arr. 4 construction or Belt-drive Arr. 9 construction
Cast aluminum radial blade wheel through size 13
Fabricated steel or aluminum wheel on size 15 to 21
Negative pressure fins to minimize build-up behind wheel
Air stream that is de-burred and cast aluminum wheels tumbled to reduce fiber tagging and damage
